A weekend at home in Westport – My favourite place to be.

This weekend, my Dad and I hopped in the car and headed west for the bank holiday weekend. Westport will always hold a special place in my heart because of the childhood memories I have here, so I love to have a countryside getaway as often as I can, although lately I’ve been so busy in Dublin that it’s not been as frequent as I would like.

These snaps are from a past visit but highlight the beauty of the Irish countryside. I spent a lot of my childhood here in Westport and seeing how I am so used to the place, it’s something that’s so easy to take for granted. However, as I’ve gotten older and since moving back from Spain, I have really come to appreciate how lucky I am to come from such a beautiful place.

Practising gratitude may seem cheesy, but it’s something that I’ve come to find really important in everyday life. Too often we take things for granted, but when you take a step back to be thankful for what you have, it can really change your outlook and your appreciation for the things in your life…
